Online Library Offers Access to Textile Design

A New York company opened a digital library of royalty-free, production-ready textile designs that can be edited and used to create custom fabric.

EZTextiles' library contains more than 25 million prints for wovens, knits, and including plaids, stripes, prints, textures, vintage textiles, and photos. Each high-resolution file is editable and CAD-ready. According to the company, files can be edited in any CAD design software, including Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator. The edited images can be downloaded into line sheets, trend boards, PowerPoint files and other applications.

"Our vision was to create a user-friendly and cost-effective design tool that can be used by a wide range of people, from design students and free-lancers to senior designers and merchants at the largest corporations," said John Sano, president and founder of Sano Design Services, the CAD studio and service bureau that created EZTextiles. Sano has 15 years of experience in the textile and apparel industry, working with comapnies such as Liminted Inc. "Ultimately, we want to expand to encompass as many design categories as possible," he said.

Visitors can test drive the site by downloading three images for free. The company offers a range of subscription packages that allow users to download royalty-free images for non-exclusive use. Prices being at $1 per image. Images are oraganized by type, category, season, color, and design complexity. The site also contains more than 500 sketches and product photos that allow users to visualize how a textile design will look on a finished garment. Users can also upload their own designs to a secure folder on the site to text out EZTextiles' offerings on their own products.
